Help bring speakers, microphones and music access to remote communities.
WAssup 108 Speakers for Remote Communities is built on practical grassroots support. Every container, donation, useful item, contact, share, business connection and conversation can help move the project closer to placing 108 speakers into 108 communities.
The project is focused on getting portable speakers and microphones into remote, regional and under-resourced communities where music, voice, storytelling, youth expression, school events, cultural gatherings and community connection matter.
Donate Containers for Change
One of the easiest ways to support the project is by donating eligible 10c containers through Containers for Change.
WAssup Containers for Change code: C11616901
You can quote this code at any Containers for Change refund point in Western Australia and ask for the refund to be donated to WAssup.
Eligible containers may include many drink cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, liquid paperboard cartons and other approved 10c containers.
Every eligible container helps build the speaker fund.

Local Container Drop-Off
For local Ellenbrook supporters, WAssup also has a green recycling bin available in the driveway at:
1 Cityview Crescent, Ellenbrook WA 6069
Eligible 10c containers can be placed in the bin to help support the project.
Please only place eligible drink containers in the bin where possible, and avoid general rubbish, food waste or broken glass.
Every eligible container helps build the speaker fund and move the WAssup 108 Speakers for Remote Communities project forward.
Local Collection Bags
For local residents in Ellenbrook and surrounding areas, WAssup may be able to provide hessian bags for collecting eligible 10c containers.
These bags can be used at home, at small gatherings, workplaces, local groups, clubs or community events to collect cans and bottles for the project.
Once a bag is full, please contact WAssup to arrange return, collection or drop-off where practical.
This helps make it easier for local supporters to collect containers over time without needing to visit a refund point themselves.

Donate Funds
Financial donations help WAssup purchase speakers, microphones, accessories, freight and replacement parts where needed.
The current focus speaker is the JBL PartyBox On-The-Go 2, with an estimated RRP of $499 per speaker.
At that price, each funded speaker becomes a practical community asset that can support music, singing, storytelling, announcements, youth programs, cultural activities, school events and community gatherings.
To discuss making a financial contribution, please contact WAssup directly.
How Speakers Will Be Nominated
Speakers will be nominated and purchased as funds become available.
This means the project may move forward one speaker at a time, depending on donations, Containers for Change refunds, available discounts, freight costs and suitable community placements.
WAssup may identify potential recipient communities, schools, youth spaces or organisations, but final speaker placements will depend on:
- Available funds
- Community interest
- Local need
- Practical delivery
- Suitable host organisations
- The ability for the speaker to be used for community benefit
The project goal is 108 speakers for 108 communities, but the pathway is deliberately practical: one speaker, one placement, one community connection at a time.
Project Tally
WAssup will keep a simple running tally of the project as it grows.
108 Speakers project placements so far: 0
Project goal: 108 speakers
Speakers remaining: 108
Earlier WAssup speaker donations: 3
These were made before the formal WAssup 108 Speakers for Remote Communities project began and helped inspire the project.
Approximate cost per speaker: $499
Current 108 Speakers fund: $61.64

Last updated: 29 May 2026

Connect WAssup With Communities
You can support the project by helping identify communities, schools, youth spaces, Aboriginal organisations, community resource centres or grassroots groups that could benefit from a portable speaker and microphones.
WAssup is especially interested in remote, regional and under-resourced communities where a speaker could support music, culture, youth engagement, storytelling, events, school activities or community connection.
Final speaker placements will depend on community interest, local need, practical delivery, available funding and suitable host organisations.

Project Status and Transparency
WAssup Community Services is currently operated by Scott Bibby under a sole trader ABN.
ABN: 49 495 986 762
WAssup is not yet a registered non-profit organisation or charity. The project is being developed as a grassroots community initiative, with the intention of building practical support, clear records and community trust as it grows.
The WAssup Containers for Change code C11616901 may currently appear under Scott Bibby’s personal name rather than under WAssup Community Services. This is because the project is still operating under Scott’s sole trader structure while WAssup continues to develop.
Support for the WAssup 108 Speakers for Remote Communities project will be used to help fund speakers, microphones, accessories, freight and related project costs, with speaker placements made as funds become available.
The aim is to grow the project carefully, transparently and practically — one speaker, one placement and one community connection at a time.
